Soundstreams’ presentation of Maniac Star’s opera Airline Icarus, by Brian Current and Anton Piatigorsky, is nominated for five Dora Mavor Moore Awards including Outstanding Production, Outstanding New Musical/Opera, and Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble.

November 2014

Lawrence Cherney is named one of University College’s Alumni of Influence of 2014.

September 2012

Lawrence Cherney is awarded the 2012 Friends of Canadian Music Award by the Canadian League of Composers and Canadian Music Centre.

May 2012

Soundstreams’ production of The Sealed Angel is named Best Choral Production in Canadaby the Association of Canadian Choral Communities.

May 2012

Soundstreams is awarded Best Recording of a Choral Work in Canada by the Association of Canadian Choral Communities for R. Murray Schafer’s The Soul of God.

April 2012

Lawrence Cherney is nominated for the Premier’s Award for Excellence in the Arts.

June 2010

Soundstreams’ co-production with Luminato of The Children’s Crusade wins the Dora Mavor Moore Award for Outstanding New Opera. Also nominated for Outstanding Set Design and Outstanding Production.

2007

Lawrence Cherney wins the Muriel Sherrin Award for International Achievement in Music, given by the Toronto Arts Awards Foundation.

2007

Soundstreams receives a Juno nomination for Harry Somers’s A Midwinter Night’s Dream. A co-production with Centrediscs and Window on Somers, it is the first CD recording of a Canadian children’s opera ever made.

2004

Soundstreams receives a Juno nomination for R. Murray Schafer’s Credo, a co-production with Opening Day Records.

2003

Lawrence Cherney is named to the Order of Canada.

2002

Soundstreams receives a Juno nomination for its CD recording of Harry Somers’s operaSerinette, a co-production with Centrediscs and Window on Somers, and the first full-length Canadian opera ever released on CD.

2000 and 2001

Soundstreams wins two consecutive Lieutenant Governor’s Awards for the Arts.

Lawrence Cherney receives a Juno nomination for The Charmer.

1993

Lawrence Cherney is the first winner of the Chalmers National Music Award.
