What are the concerts like?
Soundstreams’ artistic team dreams up thematic concerts featuring the work of contemporary artists and composers. One concert might explore the percussion music of Latin America, the next, superstar minimalist composer Steve Reich. We worry less about genre and more about what’s interesting.
Here’s what some people have said in the past:
It’s richly atmospheric, an experience that feels like you’ve gone through Alice’s rabbit hole and emerged into another universe.
– NOW Magazine (on The Whisper Opera)
Max Richter rides the cleavage between classical music’s future and past.
– Musical Toronto (on The Seasons)
I feel like this concert is something that I’ve never had the opportunity to see. I’ve been playing concerts for years, and gone to see hundreds of thousands of concerts. When else will you see six grand pianos on an acoustically perfect stage?
– Pianist Gregory Oh (on Piano Ecstasy)
